Headlight Upgrade Annoyance- Suggestions
I have a 2007 Q7, which I have slowly been updating, the last mod
has me a little perplexed and would like to tap the local brain-trust here
So here are the particulars -
2007 - Q7 3.6-
Updated with OEM PART #'s 4L091030AK (right LED adaptive xenon headlight) and 4L0941029AK (left LED adaptive xenon headlight)
I was replacing the non-led Adaptive xenon headlights
I am also using Tuner Fanatics Adapter cable q7 Facelift Xenon headlights LED DRL = Upgrade kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130707174130?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Here comes the interesting part:
Everything works great! Except I am receiving "adaptive light defective"
I also noticed that when I turn the headlight on they do not dip as the originals used to -
So I ran the Vag-com diag -
Here's what I got :
Address 55
2 faults found :
01539 Headlight Not adjusted
005- no or incorrect basic setting / Adaptation - MIL ON
and
02071 - Local Databus
004- No Signal/Communication - MIL ON
------------------------
I suspect that the kit I received doesn't support all the communications channel specifically adaptive comm's - which I later confirmed from Tuner Fanatics -
(they don't have a kit that supports adaptive light)
So where do I go to get that functionality (build a cable? or where can I find one to eliminate the error on the dash ??
Any suggestion or help would be highly appreciated
Thank you!
Henry

are you certain you had afs before hand? i am not sure if they were offered on the 3.6 but of course i could be wrong...
the first code mil is because you have to set the headlights in the module. aim them manually then set them through vcds.

Basic Setting
Headlight Adjustment
[Select]
[55 - Xenon Range]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
The meas. block field now shows "Wait" and should switch to "Adjust Headlights" then (this may take up to 10 seconds).
Adjust the headlights using their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target.
[ON/OFF/Next]
The adjustment should now be learned.
[Done, Go Back]
Don't forget to check/clear fault codes afterwards.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Use this guide. I did the update but used a kit from Kufatec with the added turn signals. In fact mine has rear and front LED, a full upgrade.

I used the turn signal adapter and the adapter for the confort module so the mirror turn signal still work. All from Kufatec, rest of the parts from ebay, scrapyards etc... For the rear I only got the new module and unlocked it at the dealer.
