Default Help With Light Switch Removal Please?

Hi all

Just bought a silver facelift style light switch for my UK RHD 2008 4.2 TDI S Line and had seen on YouTube that removal was straight forward, push in turn and remove.

It arrived today and i tried that method but it would come out so looked again and a thread on here said push in hard so I did but Im pushing so hard my dash is just flexing and there is now way that switch is going in over. Tried turning slowly and pushing and just leaving at the 12 o clock position but nothing.

Tried pulling out but it just turns to the lights on warning noise and still nothing.

What am I doing wrong please?

I am doing the rest of the switches, seats, window and mirror buttons etc. and if there are all this painful despite looking easy (door cards off being the exception) I may live to regret this?

Thanks in advance

Carl

try opening the fuse panel on the left side on the dash there you will see the back of the light switch from the BACK side of the light switch push it out of the dash towards the back of the vehicle. That is how I did mine. push in the direction as shown in pic.

Hi, my switch is on the right side (UK car) and the panel looks like its fitted behind the dash front if you know what I mean, how does it come off please?

Below the steering wheel looks like a cover that can be unscrewed etc. but I don't want to just start taking stuff off if its not linked to the removal of the light switch?

Thanks

Carl

open the drivers door and in the picture below you will find a removable panel. take a wedge tool "shown in picture" place it under the panel and wedge it off.

the other pic shows what panel is being removed it is for left hand drive but the panel is the same for right hand drive Q7's.

the slot in the panel is designed to fit the key blade. you can use that to pry the panel off. it should not damage it at all providing you remove the panel with care.
