Instrument Guage Cluster Uprgade
The other day I sat in a 2013 Q7 and noticed something, the gauge cluster is just a little different than my 2008 model. The 2013 is a little more "crisp" and the digital mileage and date are in white instead of red, I like this a lot and the speedometer goes up to 180mph instead of 160mph. I've done some searching online and it seems like this has never been brought up before? But has anyone successfully retrofitted the facelift gauge cluster into the pre facelift models? There is a YouTube video of a guy with it in his pre facelift, but he also has upgraded 3G+ MMI. I've found a couple of used clusters for cheap, the only problem is that the mileage stays on the cluster :-( I know on other brands it's as simple as unplugging old cluster, plugging in new one, then having the mileage flashed? I'm hoping this can be done. Here's the YouTube video:

Think gauge cluster was updated again for MY2009s as my speedo goes up to 180MPH and graphics look better than the 2 previous MYs. In my opinion, I don't think it's a necessary upgrade. Save your money for bigger issues that will surface...literally just dropped off my Q7 at the dealer this morning for A/C issue. Blowing no air.
On another note, and with no A/C, I just returned from Plattsburgh (12hr drive) for my annual summer vacation to my mother-in-law's house. She lives on the water in Cliff Haven and are opening up Valcour Brewing Co at the Old Stone Barracks. Spread the word!

Yea, I don't have ACC so I need to find one without.. I'm gonna research this, there has to be a way to retro fit it. I'm almost certain it would need coding though.

Any differences would most likely be in the connectors and possibly the pin numbers.
The mileage would automatically show the higher of cluster or car but this can be corrected, i believe even Audi can do that but would need proof of mileage.
Coding unless there were extra features in the cluster i don't think that would be necessary.
Component protection may be activated tho.

Okay, so after a bit of research I'm thinking it could be a possible upgrade
I have only compared the connectors on the back via pictures from online, it appears as if all the connections are the same, from 2007 to 2014. The only difference is in 2009 the connection was moved from vertically in the center to horizontally in the top right. But up close the connectors look identical, maybe this is a plug and play mod
2007/2008 Speedometer Gauge: Vertical
2009-2011 Speedometer Gauge: Horizontal
2012+ Speedometer Gauge: Horizontal
2007/2008 Connector Close Up
2012+ Connector Close Up
What does everyone think? I'm not that smart when it comes to stuff like this. Does it look like it's possible? The only problem I can see running into is wether the speedometer Gauge is in MPH or KPH and wether the gauge is set up for Diesel or Gasoline (RPM Gauge). Other than that it seems that it could be possible!
