Interested in Q7 and had some questions
Hi all!
I'm a long time clublexus member with a RX330 and I'm interested in getting a 2010 Q7 and was hoping to get some information.
Is there any certain year I should purchase and avoid? I was hoping for a good 2010 since it has the LED fogs and hopefully BT audio streaming.
How is the reliability and maintenance costs?
Should I be concern with purchasing a 80k and up mileage car?
Is there anything I need to look for when purchasing a used Q7?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated and thanks for the help!

MY2010 got the facelift. Most kinks were worked out from what I've read on the forum. I have a 2009 and dealt with the sunroof drain issue a few times. Then, because of sunroof drain issues, I had to get the Bose amp replaced a year later. MMI crapped out on me a few times because of the wet amp. Other than that, nothing major.
Tires, rotors and pads need to be replaced frequently no matter what year Q7 you have. Maintenance out of warranty is expensive if you have your Q serviced at the dealer.
Can't comment on a high-mileage Q. 64k miles on my 2009 (put on 32k since purchase).
If purchasing used, definitely look at tire and brake wear. Request all service records from the seller. Make sure all of the MMI functions/controls work. Have a good shop take a look over before purchasing if you're buying from a non-Audi dealer.
Can't think of anything else at the moment but feel free to ask any other questions. I'm sure you'll get some good responses! Tons of good info on the forum.

Welcome
I have a 2010 with 76,000 miles. My problems was inside plastic parts was breaking. Easy fix for a DIY.
At 65,000 motor mounts was replace, cause at Idle to much Vibs coming from the engine compartment to back of the driver seat.(CPO warranty)
O2 went out at 75,000 was very very easy DIY to replace next to the turbo on top of the engine.
65,000 new belt and pulleys and tensioner.
65,000 second roll seat belt buckle was broken.
two fog lights had wholes in the back of the plug and glass was shatter.
65,000 rear hatch shocks.
65,000 front hatch shocks
70,000 new rad cap.
70,000 new power steering cap.
75,000 re-service AC was 4ozs low for a max of 720g or 1.9oz.
70,000 trans flush
70,000 front and rear diff plus transfer case oil change.
70,000 third sun shade latch fix.
Thats about it I love mine would not trade it in for nothing. Just normal wear and tear, the only two major items was motor mounts and O2 sensor.

I had my 2008 replaced by AOA for fuel pump issues.
All other q7s in my list were flawless except for one thing, the alignment, two had very minor alignment issues - that is the machine said the alignment was off, but I could NOT tell when driving or via tire wear. SO, basically it wasn't really an issue.
Yes, in the city expect brake pads almost annually (although I live in hilly SF), probably a 1.5 to 2 years depending on load and driving habits.

I have a 2011 TDI with 77K miles and just had the High Pressure Fuel Pump disintegrate. Supposedly the 2009 and 2010 TDI models suffered from this issue in larger numbers. If you are going with a Gasoline engine, then you don't have to worry about this. The TDI is nice though as I just recently got 29mpg on my last trip doing about 75-80mph. To answer your question regarding BT streaming, don't get your hopes up. You will be able to do BT but only for making/receiving cell phone calls. I believe 2012 did have BT audio streaming though. Another feature you may look for is lane assist. My 2011 has this option but I don't know if it was available in 2010. Oh, and one last bit of advice... Get the Extended Warranty . Like I said before, my HPFP just disintegrated a few weeks ago and to fix this would have run me about 6K - 7K.
