Default LED Bulb not working on number plate - Help

Hey guys,

Just need some quick help,

Im trying to fit LED's for my number plate on my Audi Q7, but the bulbs don't seem to work, I'v had a scan on the internet to find out why and it seems i need to attach resistors, but unsure which 'Ohm' resistor's i need for each bulb, can anyone help?

Try reversing them first. They have only one correct direction.

I am going to put 50W LED's in my reverse bulb holders, because I back down my 120ft long driveway, which gets rather dark in the winter months at 6-something AM. I tested it before ordering load resistors, and LED bulbs will not work. The car sees them as "open circuit" because the load is too small. I got 6 ohm, 50W resistors. They are by far the most common size. I found some that were 8 ohm, 25W and 8 ohm 50W as well. The wattage is how much heat they can dissipate in this instance. I got a set of four 6 ohm 50W resistors for under $10 on Amazon.

If you are in doubt of the polarity (assuming the LED fixture is polarized, many are no longer such), you can usually use a 9V battery to test them.

I use Kaibird LED. It includes the housing, very bright and worked right away.

I had the same issue, ended up like B490MTL, bought new ones with the housing.

Go to Audi and save the pain as here in the UK the genuine Audi LED rear number plate lamps and holders (one unit) which are standard for many models across the Audi range from about 2008 are about £25 which is no way unreasonable.

try bulbs from tunerdomes.com or superbrightleds.com. no faults or resistors needed for rear plate bulbs.
