I wouldn't mind seeing the version that caused the "emergency redesign" which was said to be too aggressive. This version is watered down and looks like too many parts were borrowed from the corporate parts bin. Designed by a committee comes to mind.

same here... i thought the quote of the design being "catered mainly to Russian tastes" was funny but was really curious to see what it looked like for it to be called that.

I really like the "estate" look of the new q7. And I see the avant reference as others have said. To me, that's not a bad thing. It's a European SUV.
I'm not sure what people are looking or hoping for in a 7 passenger family SUV.
I see nothing from bmw, Mercedes, or Lexus that looks any better. And lots of 'em are worse.
Many people have said the current q7 looks like a big upright wagon. It's portly and can look weird from certain angles. And without the nice wheels and trim upgrades, doesn't look that appealing.
That photo is sitting way too low to the ground for what the real U.S. Spec would look like. But that's the look I prefer anyway. I'll take mine slammed to the ground on the air ride suspension with 21's. 😄
People did the same thing about the new A6 in 2012. They whined it was boring and nothing changed. But in person, you could really appreciate the difference.
