Bucket list, but second time around. We were there last year, too. Wife will be with. That's all that's left in the house. Kids are all grown and out. Besides, the Karavan only sleeps two in a full sized queen bed. Perfect for a pair in their dotage.

Since i just moved from there last summer i can tell you a couple things. Once you make it to the Yukon do the speed limit. There are ice heaves in the road, the road will look nice and flat but will have huge jumps in it. Once it starts to get dark, slow down! The wild life there is no joke. There are so many people killed every year from animals and they will be every were! Make sure you have at least one if not 2 spare tires for both the Audi and the camper, you will get a flat and there is nothing for miles in spots. If there is a place it will brake the bank trying to get a tire!

I am not trying to scare you off, just be safe and go prepared!

I was there last year with the same karavan, but with an MB ML350BlueTec as the tug. We had zero problems with tires, and you are most certainly correct that the AlCan Hgwy is roughest in the Yukon.

We plan to go on some other less improved roads on this trip, including the Campbell Highway from Watson Lake to Ross River to Carmacks and the Klondike Highway to Dawson. Then the Top of the World Highway and Taylor Highway through Chicken, Tok and on the Glenn Highway to Anchorage.

On the way back we plan to take the Cassiar Highway down to the Trans Canada Highway and then east and south to home. Should be a real adventure, as a lot of these "highways" are really dirt or rough chip seal or blacktop.

The biggest hazard we had last year was a large stone chip in the windshield.
