I just finished installing mine two weeks ago. I didn’t like the front driver side bracket that came with mine so I took it over to my dads place and re-welded it to make it fit better. Also had to modify it slightly to give it more clearance for a hanger under there. All the rest were fine. I also went to the local hardware store and got some lock nuts for the under side of the actual running boards, but other then that I used what came with the kit.

I found a pair for a fantastic price. I have the factory tow package (2013 TDI) and am now confused about whether OEM boards will be compatible or not... it seems this forum says both and/or that some welding may be needed. Help?! I would love some confirmation before making a long drive and shelling out $$$ for nothing

That makes sense. I did read this thread a long time ago and went ahead with installing both the rear hitch and recently the running boards and yea, there were no show stoppers from installing both as neither tied into each other.
