Pano sunroof shade off track
Yesterday I go to open my sunroof and as the shade is retracting it started to bunch up and would not retract all the way - automatically started to move forward. It looks like the shade is off the track. White plastic strip along each side of the shade is visible. I managed to retract the shade all the way back just enough so it would not automatically move forward.
Anything I can do? I assume this is a huge repair at the dealer which I'd like to avoid.

Brought mine in today for the 6th replacement in 7 years. If it fails again, I will have removed and get it tinted. The spec is well known issue on earlier Q7s, the track is too tight. Their was a bulletin on it.

You need to guide that plastic strip precisely into track for it to works right.
You can guide it back in with your finger if the whole strip still intact, otherwise it will fall out again next time you open/close it. You can carefully fully extend the shade out of track to study it if you want to make sure, or do small repair like I did to mine.
With shade is fully extracted, extend it a little bit till you can stuck your index finger in between shade and strip on the outer edge of shade. Bend down the strip about 40~60 degree in order to guide it into track. Keep your finger there with some force to keep separate shade and strip till shade fully extended. You may need to do it several time for the strip to relearn the routine.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thank you for the info. Just add it to the list of annoying repairs I've had to deal with. I will hopefully get to mess with it on the weekend. For now, I have the shade retracted pretty much all the way with about 4 inches or so out covering the sunroof.
