Passenger side wiper arm broke completely off
#14
Today was my turn. Heavy downpour on I20 somewhere in Mississippi. Auto wipers were in high speed. All of a sudden , bang, the passenger wiper broke. Exactly in the same place as those pictured. That wiper accelerates and decelerates pretty hard with each swipe due to the design of the linkage. I suppose that that casting must flex a bit due to inertia. Eventually it fails. Shouldn't happen. Poor engineering on Audi's part.

question, if it breaks is the drivers wiper rendered inoperable? ie, will the broken arm scratch up the window or something if you continue to use em?
I ask because my family lives in Pacific NW, seems when I go visit em I use my wipers pretty much non-stop.. Here in the Desert I dont use em much, if it breaks I'm betting I'll be 800 miles from home and still need wipers to get back.. trying to figure out if I should just carry a spare arm with me so I dont get raped by a West Coast dealer.

No-- driver side continues to work fine and the remaining stub of the passenger wiper does not contact the windshield. No need for a spare.

This happened to my 2011 Audi Q7 yesterday. Luckily I slowed down about to make a turn from a highway. I called Corporate just now and they said they cannot do something about it because the warranty is done. I'm surprise there is no recall yet for this or they just waiting for somebody to get hurt first? This thing is no joke if it hits another windshield behind or a person.
