Possible Q7 Purchase - Question
Previous 2011 Q5 owner (hence the username). Wife loved it and now is looking at a Q7 - looking at 2012/ 2013 TDI Prestige S-Line. Noticed in the pics it has push-button start but saw keys in the dash. Is it required to put the keys in like a conventional ignition before pressing the push button? Seems redundant if that is the case.

No. fortunately it's optional. Some owners go the entire vehicle's life without using the dash mounted key. I use the key slot 50% of the time. Mostly if the key is in my hand when getting in the vehicle. Otherwise if the key is in my pocket I just use the button. Im glad Audi has two options though. It's nice to have the option.

its especially nice if for any reason your push start fails working. You can start it regardless.
One reason i can think of is the valet mode. I honestly don't remember if my Q has that, but my 2006 A6 did, so i assume this one does too. When enabled, the valet key will only be able to start the car via ignition. So maybe that's why they did not eliminate it?
