Default Probably last leg of my 07 4.2 V8, Rough idle, misfire P0024 P0019

So this is the code with cylinder 5, 6, 7, 8 misfire

000036 - Bank 2: Camshaft B (Exhaust)
P0024 - 004 - Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced) - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11100100
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 3
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 219837 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2017.01.10
Time: 11:01:26

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 1636 /min
Load: 41.9 %
Speed: 19.0 km/h
Temperature: 41.0
Temperature: 18.0
Absolute Pres.: 1010.0 mbar
Voltage: 14.097 V

Clear it, and then code changed to P0019 with same 5, 6, 7, 8 cylinder misfire

000025 - Bank 2: CMP Sens 4 (G301) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P0019 - 002 - Incorrect Correlation - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11100010
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 219936 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2017.01.14
Time: 15:33:18

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 677 /min
Load: 45.1 %
Speed: 0.0 km/h
Temperature: 79.0
Temperature: 58.0
Absolute Pres.: 1010.0 mbar
Voltage: 13.589 V

Car would have rough idle and vibration at cold start with MIL flashing. It runs fine on the move with solid MIL. I have to kept engine revs around 800 rpm when stop to avoid engine vibration.

It will back to normal after engine fully warm up, coolant temp needle in middle. Idle and drives normal except MIL stays on.

I think the timing chain cam tensioner is/are bad after some google searched.
So that indicates my 07 is on it's last leg as it's not worth to fix this 11 year old car.
It's very sad as my family really loves Q7.

Ouch. Sorry. I would at least call someone who does this repair and get an estimate.
Here is one example. https://redlinespeedworx.com/audi-v8...ce-real-story/

Hello, last week i was in the same boat... Rough idle, misfire, valve or chain noise, and even local mechanic gave me an estimate of 5,800$ to replace all timing chains... Even hot at idle I had a kind of loose chain noise... I know the tensioner are hydrolic and my last oil change was with 0w40 and this is not helping to increase the oil pressure. My Q7 turned 240,000km. So I had another oil and filter change at Audi dealer with 5w40 and this help by about 70% and the car was drivable. The mecanician told me about LiquiMoly oil additive and this help again to reach 90% normal. Then the cherry on the cake, see my post, one rocker cover valve pop in, I put grey tape and I realize how much excessive pressure vacuum can make this happen. I unplug the small vacuum hose of the oil pvc separator and the vacuum was like a shop vac. I made a test by blocking with my hand the oil separator entry and suddenly, the idle was back to normal without any noise. So I replaced the oil separator with a new Audi one about 300$, and my car is running even better, like a new one... My guess was probably too much vacuum in the engine reducced the oil pressure, then both tensioner, and the 0w40 increase the problem. I hope this can help you.

Thanks for the link. I'm in Bay area though. Will try to seek estimate this weekend. Or anyone have a good Indy recommendation?

Thanks for the advise. Glad it works for you. I changed separator last year about 8000 miles ago. So I highly doubt it went south that quick. And the symptom is quite different this time as well.

Default Update: Problems fixed for FREE

So after digging harder through internet.

Found this along with several similar one:

Found: Camshaft Adjuster Fix!!! - The W8 forum - Page 1

Apparently, root caused of my P0019 code, Bank 2: CMP Sens 4 (G301) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28) P0019 - 002 - Incorrect Correlation - MIL ON, is camshaft adjustment valve.
In my case the solenoid valve is completely stuck, and cause ecu though camshaft position sensor is bad.

The electric shock trick mentioned on above thread didn't work after 5 minutes try.
Luckily, all 4 valves can be easily removed from engine top on Q7.
So I removed the bank 2 exhaust side one only as other 3 all responded to electric shock, and found the tiny screen stuck inside just like the thread described.

Got screen removed, 12v applied. And valve moves and click.

Put everything back, clear code, and fire it up.
YES!!! no more vibration, no more MIL during 30 minutes test drive.
And it's free.

So glad we have internet that allows us to find supports much much easier.
Hope this will help someone down the road.
