Default Q7 Brake life

I'm told that my 2014 Q7 with 25,000 miles (city and highway combined) needs new pads and rotors for $2,200. Does that sound right?? Seems like it's too early.

Default totally depends on your driving style

I did my fronts at 72K and my rears at 80k fronts required new rotors rears were within margins,

That is real early. My first set went about 40,000. Second set went 60,000 and then I changed the rotors too. Granted that was a stretch and most of our mileage is Highway. Brake life depends far more on how much they are used rather than how many miles are traveled. These quotes of $2000 brake jobs do make it far easier for me to justify my tool purchases to my wife :-) I think I'll go ahead and buy myself a lift!

I just did my wife's '14 q7 at 44,000 miles. The front OEM pads were nearly on metal, the rears would likely have lasted another 10,000 miles or more as they had probably 5+ mm of pad material left. I did the rotors too but that was probably overkill. They weren't particularly expensive so I figured might as well just knock it out now and not worry about it for a while. Her car is probably 60% city driving.

Car at 25k. I did front and rear rotors and pads. They were starting to squeak so I charged them out. didn't bother to look at the old pads or measure the rotors.

35k mi here which includes about 10k miles of towing a 6000 lb trailer. I probably have another 10k mi to go for the first pad change. Driving is mixed hwy and local driving.

I average around 20k per pad change with the OEM pads, with new rotors every other service. Been a bit longer on my Hawk LTS pads, but the brake feel is horrible, and squeal without swapping to new rotors is bad. I'm still trying to decide what pads to go to next service, since the Rotex Gold that I was planning to go with don't seem to be available anymore. Maybe back to OEM despite the brake dust. Q7 is heavy and it depends on what type of driving and where you live. Lots of hills here where I live.

Mine gave-up the ghost at 17k, both pads and rotors - San Francisco hills sure, but I was pissed, $2k - I went with an independent solution and I emailed AOA - I understand the pads, I expected that before 20k - but someone made a mistake on the rotor material - although I've heard over the years complaints about 'noise', but they made these rotors too soft.

Go indy - check the forums for other options, here's my post on this;

Total costs: $800 front and back.
