Q7 Cousin
Ever since my wife purchased her Q7 I've had SUV envy since I was driving an Acura MDX. I was originally going to get a Cayenne S but after if weighing out the costs of new wheels and cost to upgrade the bumpers, the GTS made a lot more sense. I still love driving the Q7 and love the way it looks but the GTS has a completely different personality especially when you hit the magical sport button that lowers the car, stiffens the suspension and chassis, make the throttle more responsive and opens the exhaust valve for a wondrous roar.

For a long trip, I would choose the Q7 any day. The Cayennes seats are sports car like. Firm, highly bolstered with Alcantara inserts. They aren't uncomfortable but for 1000 miles trip, the stiffer suspension and seats may wear on you.
To be fair, the Q7 I have is a 3.6, but the 405 hp, 369 lbs of torque 4.8 is a monster.
