That's news and very important if the new XC90 is going to be made in Thailand. I always thought all Volvos were still going to be made in Sweden (albeit with more and more Chinese parts) despite being owned by Geely (Chinese).

I am all for accuracy, so I may stand corrected on where the XC90 is built based on this year old article -

Production of the Current Volvo XC90 will continue in China | CarNewsChina.com - China Auto News

I also read in a couple of places that it will be built in Torslanda, Sweden after it was re-tooled for the new style. I don't think the country of assembly matters if the car is built with quality parts and put together right. Only time will tell.

In all fairness the Q7 is made in Bratislava. not exactly the land of quality and opulence and going on the last eight years it didn't make the Q7 the most reliable SUV on the road... If VW/Audi's plans remain to move all SUV production to Mexico does that make things better or worse?

"At least initially, the XC90 will be made solely in Sweden. But other Volvo models are already being produced in China and Mr. Samuelsson said on Tuesday that some Chinese-made vehicles, like the S60 sedan, could be exported to the United States as soon as next year. Whether American consumers will buy a Chinese-made car is a largely untested prospect."

Hope the mods don't delete these posts. It's indicative of how butt-fugly the new Q7 is. So ugly that we're talking about the Volvo XC90...

Back on topic with the new Q7 ... maybe the interior cockpit panel may perk my interest.

Icono- Nice find with these images. The white one in particular shows a more "normal" ride height, at least aesthetically- more SUV, less wagon. I like it, but don't exactly love it. You still see many of the original unibody elements of the 1st gen in that image, though I still think the thin strip creases in the wheel arches and rear lift gate need to go- imo, they're distracting and busy. The front grill doesn't bother me as much, plus people will have finish options (dealer or aftermarket) to tone it down, and it's nowhere near as fugly as the Lexus GX or Infiniti QX.

Some of these "errant" design elements remind me of what Designers end up doing when forced (at the 11th hour) to "tweak" something by the higher ups who are disconnected from the overall design language/intent. But then I've also seen incoherence done on purpose and it called artful, edgy, attractive....

my main gripe is with the grill... actually the entire nose. it looks off. misplaced. in my opinion they should've just taken the current a6 avant went plus one with it on size and for s-line package make it resemble the s6 avant and call it a day. this edgy look isnt working from the front but side / rear shot it looks like an attractive vehicle.
