Howdy Folks,

I'm looking to install a trail hitch for my 2008 Audi Q7, 4.2. I had a few quotes from some trailer install folks. I've also found some kits online, specifically:

I'm pretty mechanical, so don't seeing the installation being an issue - or the wiring. However, after reviewing some other forums, read somewhere that there are codes that need to be entered. I'd appreciate any direction on this subject. Note; I've only had this car for a few days .. so I'm trying to get up to speed.

I installed the OEM kit on mine and recoded the electronics with VagCom. I really like how robust the OEM receiver is compared to the aftermarket one. Keep in mind that the receiver bar is also the bumper reinforcement and the OEM is contoured like the original bumper rebar. Installation took about 3-4 hours including reprogramming the electronics. No wire splicing required and no potential for system errors from same. I tow a large go-fast style boat with mine that has electric brakes on the trailer and am very impressed by the way the Q pulls it. IMO, it pulls and brakes better than my F-150 and my previous GMC 2500 and still has comfortable room for passengers and luggage.
