Default Rattle in Passenger (Middle) Row Seats

Hi all,

Have been going on some bumpy roads recently and noticed there's a rattle coming from the middle passenger row (on the seat behind the driver in RHD). I think there is movement in the seat sliding rail system (a little bit forward and backwards). Is this a known issue, and if so, what is the replacement part number? [NB I have seen people say there is often a rattle from the hinge but don't think it's that, I think it's from the rail).

Many thanks.

Ben

did you check the cargo cover first? usually the source of rear rattle/knock.

Pretty sure it's the seats as stops when people sitting in them I think, although need to confirm. What's the fix for the cargo cover our of interest? (presume that is the floor pan over the spare wheel? If it's the retractable thing at shoulder height, I'm await delivery of one of those as was missing on purchase)

i was referring to the cover that goes above the cargo area not the spare tire cover.

I have the same rattle. So annoying especially after multiple trips to the dealer to get the sunroof rattle fixed.

Have that too and had it on an older q7 as well. Some of it can be mitigated with felt tape around the posts protruding from the middle seat (pull the middle seatback down and you'll see them).

Good luck with the rattle. I have it, too. It's the rear passenger side which includes the center console portion. You can easily see it shaking in the rearview mirror going over bumps.

Heh. I may have your solution. This happened in my Q5. In the Q5, it's the "post" in the rear seat latch. Slap a little tape (like black electrical tape) on it and the rattle disappears.

If I remember correctly, it was the post that is exposed when you fold just the middle section of the seats down.

Tried that one, and unfortunately didn't fix it. Think it's the seat rail and/or the runner that goes in it having some play.

Got a quote for the rear seat runner from Audi (part number 4L0883187) and it's £336.25 inc VAT.
