Roof Bars, Cargo Basket and Full Sized Spare
Getting ready for a drive from Atlanta to Alaska via the AlCan Highway pulling a camper trailer. I do not want to get stuck in the hinterlands of British Columbia, Yukon Territories and/or Alaska having to drive on that factory inflatable spare.
Attached are a few photos of my solution to that possible dilemma.
The bars are Thule AeroBlade Edge Flush 7602 with the Kit 4002 mounting hardware. The cargo basket is a Yakima Load Warrior with the Yakima Spare Tire Carrier; and the full sized spare is the factory OE 20 wheel with a Pirelli tire.
The nice thing about this setup is that it does not interfere much with the view out the pano roof from the front seat; and there is about 1" of clearance between the OPEN pano roof and the Load Warrior clamps on the Thule bars, so the pano roof is fully usable. The third photo shows this.
Without the basket and spare mounted, the bars are absolutely quiet, even at highway speed. The basket and tire obviously generate some wind noise, but it's pretty much imperceptible when the pano roof is closed.

I bought the same cross bars in all black to carry my bikes when I pull my camper. Easy to install and remove. They are great and as you said, allow decent clearance. Wind noise is minimal, but still there if the roof is open.

When the roof is open or closed, I do get wind noise at highway speed with the cargo basket and full sized spare up there.
