Default Tire help...22s

hey guys, I have 22" XO on my 2011 with 285 35 22 nitto 420s. It's time to replace the tires and I can't decide on a new set. The nittos have HORRIBLE road noise so that is the most important thing I need to fix. I know they are a cheap tire but as far as noise goes, is that related to ****ty design/quality or is it because of the shorter sidewall? I'm going to get a better tire but not sure if I can stay 285 35 22 or if I need to go bigger on the sidewall (285 40 22....which is not ideal on the looks side.)

i have Nexen Roadatian UHP. $700 for set of 4. Cheap and not bad overall. Only issue is the road noise. It's like a humming between 20-30mph. Especially on concrete surface. I had Yokohamas Advan sport before that and they weren't really much better in that department so go figure. You would probably have to go to the expensive brand names, like continental, michellin, or pirelli to improve in that department.

Had a set of Nitto Motivo's and had no problems with them. These Motivos are decent all-season tires overall. The Conti DWS are good also. If you're not strapped, I recommend the Michelin AS3.

I spoke with Tirerack and they also suggested the Conti DWS6. Leaning towards those over the yokohama parada x as they have slightly higher user ratings. Now I'm stuck between a 285 35 or a 285 40....

IMHO stay with the 35s, also to keep the rolling diameter nearly identical to OEM specs.

I have Toyo Proxes ST II in 35 and like them. Keep in mind the load rating for 22 inch tires may vary between brand and not be up to Audi preferences for the Q7.

Good luck and let us know how it worked out. Nice looking Q7 BTW...

I would do 285-35. Have them now and like them. Ride isnt too harsh either. Couple that in with a quality tire like DWS, you won't have any issues. The 285-40 will throw your speedo and gps off whack, and you will have to update it via VAG-COM.

yeah copy that. The conti in the 285 35 has a load rating of 106. Audi OEM is 107. The 285 40 has a load rating of 110 but dont want to go through the trouble of recalibration.

Stick with pirelli scorpion's. I run them in 335/25 on the rear and get very very little road noise.
