Tread depth variations on Q7 tire replacement
Here's the question: tread depth is 11/32 on a new Toyo Versado 255/55/18. Could I get away with one slightly used (10/32nds) Versado along with three new ones?
With three new tires at 11/32, and one tire between 9/32 and 10/32...
Any thoughts? Ill advised?

The short answer is no, not a good idea- primarily because of AWD and to some extent, vehicle safety systems ESP/TPMS/ABS that can rely on variations in sensed wheel speed.
But given the way the Q7 can chew through tires and can be difficult to align or keep aligned (causing non-inform wear), it wouldn't surprise me if there was 1/32 of variation in tread depth across the 4 tires on mine. I routinely check pressures, but not depth.
I'm not sure what tire shaving costs, but that may be a sensible option- unless that service fee is near or exceeds the cost of one new tire. They certainly wouldn't be taking off much.

The published spec is 1/8" (aka 4/32") variance. That's quite a lot, really!
