What's the fate of the Q7 as it ages?

I love our Q7's. The 3.6 is a bit different in character than the 4.2, especially since the 4.2 has Adaptive suspension. I have both in "Stage 1" Unitronic guise, and would love to do intake and exhaust on at least the 3.6. It's a bit of a gamble, as the Stage 1 tune gets the torque darn close to the advertised limit of the 6HP19 transmission. I like the throttle calibration and pedal of the 3.6 over the 4.2.
The only real let down I've had in either car are the stupid sunroof drains. I just went through a HUGE debacle with the local VW dealership in replacing both front drains on the 3.6 (we have no local Audi dealership, the closest one I will deal with is 1.5hrs away but is excellent). The 4.2 has only needed one drain at this point.

My 2008 S-Line with 65,000 miles which was fully loaded to the max with a sticker of $74,000 Adaptive Suspension, Tow Package, 21" wheels, Rear Bucket Seats in Calla White I plan on selling for $25,000. I have never found one with all the options I have. It actually has one of the best paints I've had on any car in all my years of owning cars of 42 years.

I think the first Q7 will be forgotten. It's a beautiful car but there are too many of them on the roads and the design isn't that dramatic.

If Audi is unable to get past the EPA with TDI models in the future, then maybe the Q7 TDI could get a bit of cult status, especially with those who tow.

I bought a 2009 3.9L without the gremlins, no sunroof , I was so adamant about it. I am going to give it a little TLC. Already did the coils, plugs, BG44k, new pirellis. The car has been great till now with 140k on it.
Also bought some Koni FSD's and going to overhaul the suspension completely for a smoother ride. But yes my cars get pampered till the engine quits on me, and the force is strong with this one.

Wow! Good info! I completely agree with you about higher mileage Q7's. They can most certainly be a gamble. I think there's nothing wrong with owning a higher mileage Q7 if you know a thing or two about working on cars, but a higher mileage Q7 is not the kind of car you want to be serviced at a dealer, it'd be way to expensive. The 'old' Q7 is very unique because it's one of the last cars that was not designed around cell phones, etc. because when the original Q7 was designed, The iPhone didn't even exist yet. Now, the iPhone is what all of the tech in the new one revolves around. Crazy! I find the 14 and 15 models still pretty nice and modern too, Audi really could've kept this design until 2020 if they wanted to.. Just like how Volvo kept the XC90 from 02-14.. The difference between the XC90 and the Q7 is that the Q7 was way ahead of its time back in 2006, And 2006 design language is still pretty relevant in today's market. When the XC90 was designed it was in the late 90's early 2000's.. So it was already looking dated in 2010. Audi did well with the 4L Q7. The 2010 facelift really revamped the entire car for the better. Hopefully they will stay running on the road for years to come.
