The official Audi package I saw was 235 60-18 so that is what I went with. Depending on how much snow you see, narrower is better. In the grand scheme of things 235 is not that narrow unless you are coming off of 295s!
If you don't get much snow, a 255 55-18 with a more "performance " slant might be an option.
Where I am there is not much traffic, so plows are few and far between if I believe the locals.

Doing some research, but so many factors to consider... Anyone have a top-3 list of factors to take into consideration?
(and this question is just related to size... which tire is a whole other can of worms)
Gracias in advance.

I went with 255/55-18 on 18x8 wheels for the Yokohama iceGuard iG51V's. Zero issues last winter. Unless you are going to be going through several feet of snow regularly, not going to be an issue. Years ago I had a 1987.5 5000S quattro that had 215/60-15 Cooper Cobra GTS's on it, which were just a high performance all season tire. With the center and rear diffs locked, that 3200lb, 135hp car would go through snow that was over the front bumper (it also pushed a Camry through snow of similar depth one winter, as a friend's car had gotten stuck and neither she nor I had a tow rope). Depending on tire construction, a 255 vs a 235 may not be all that different in physical dimensions. Especially when used on a 5300-5600lb SUV.

Take a gander at the winter setup if you are interested. They are so nearly new that they need a home, otherwise the setup will be such a waste.
Now that I can afford nice things in life a winter tire swap is no longer even a luxury, such a necessity. Like others have said before and shown on the videos/photos stopping power/distance is night and day.
Enjoy this last weekend of summer, all!!

We purchased a 2015 Q7 Premium Plus with the 20" Wheels with All Seasons earlier this summer. I went with the following winter set up:
18" MSW Type 19 Wheels in Silver
235/60/18 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1
I've been using Blizzaks for the last 15 years on all my cars during the Chicago winters. IMO its the best winter tire out there. Can't wait to get these on and winter to arrive. I always go with a narrower tire and a step down on the diameter for the best snow driving.

If you are buying a second set of wheels, typically 18" is less expensive for one. Secondarily, the ride quality over ice pack/pot holes that show up in the winter is by far better. Also, you typically can get a narrower tire in the 18" size than you can in a 19-22" size, which is better for almost all snow situations we'd ever be in with our Q7's.
