Here is my winter setup. 18 inch OEM with Nokians Haka 5 all around. Perfect for Canadian winter, never had any problems.

iconoclast - have you considered the Vredestein Wintrac Nextreme SUV? I'm hoping someone tries them out this upcoming winter and posts some good reviews.

i am debating on those or michelin. i had the michelin before without issue or complaint but i have read some good things about the vredestein and they're less expensive. i was hoping others on here could chime in on the vredestein. i know phil (of detailers domain fame) has them on his and i believe 2putt as well. i will post reviews and photos once i decide which way to go.

Iconoclast- by experience of having Michelin winter tires on other cars. They tend to be really quiet, ok for snow and ice but not extreme blizzard, slushy conditions. They do tend to wear out fast I don't imagine on the Q7...

michelin dedicated winter tires?
i had the latitude diamaris all-season on my RRS-SC and they were awful... i quickly swapped out to dedicated michelin winter tires and they were much better.

Iconoclast- yes dedicated snow Michelins, the tread blocks are not very wide to remove the slush efficiently I find.

Here in Quebec, winter tires are mandatory for cars and trucks registered here from dec 15 to march 15. Usually year after year the equivalent of consumers report here tests a wide selection of winter tires. Unfortunately its a paid subscription but I did find a similar article. Top 4 are Bridgestone (probably biased because they are made here) Toyo, Nokian and Michelin.

Hope it helps
