Default Wow--my TPMS just went off

Today my TPMS warning light went off. This was quite a surprise, since in the 7+ years I've owned my Q7, it has never gone off. I always figured the system didn't work, because I have found my tires to have low pressure (sometimes as much as 15 lbs low) numerous times and the system has never gone off before. I have always reset the system whenever adding air to my tires, but the thing has just never worked. Until today.

Weird.

Whoops--forgot to mention that the tires were all within 2 lbs of each other.

Unless it's a fault, the one that triggered it should have been displayed in red.

My system has worked in the past when pressures got lower in colder temps, but I'm thinking that on some of the older Q7s like my '07, the batteries on the wheel sensors are starting to fail, and they are not replaceable, other than swapping out the entire sensor I believe. So many of us with older Q7s will either have to start swapping out wheel sensors or disabling the TPMS in VAG if that's possible. Anyone have any ideas other than buying new sensors?

My understanding is there are no sensors. At least there aren't for my S7. The system works by monitoring the delta in wheel rotation differences, at least as I understand it.

If I'm recalling correctly, I believe only models after 2010 have no sensor, but the older ones certainly do.

Default No Sensors??

Can someone authoritatively clarify the sensor/no sensor discussion below? Just had ceramic pads installed in my 2011 gas prestige, and I was charged for sensors.

-thanks/ark

I can confirm my 2011 TDI S-line prestige has NO TPMS sensors on the valve stems. Could be the brake pad wear sensors that were replaced that you're being charged for. One sensor per caliper.

What do you mean "displayed in red?" There is just a dash warning, and reset options in the MMI.

From what I've read, starting MY 2011 do not have TPMS sensors. I have a 2007 A6 and the TPMS light went off without any significant change in tire pressure (and went off again after tires were topped up and TPMS was reset). I'm guessing it's time to replace the sensors. Have not looked into getting quotes yet.
