2017 Audi Q7 SUV Proves Slick and Opulent - Consumer Reports
A few notes that might interest readers here:
- One of the striking characteristics of the 2017 Audi Q7 is how quiet it is.
- Ride comfort is steady and composed, although underlying firmness at low, urban speeds is noticeable, unless you opt for the cushy $4,000 air suspension.
- That option makes the Q7 extra cushy, giving this SUV a regal ride that rivals even a Range Rover.
- Handling is responsive and confidence inspiring...
- If you think the 2017 Audi Q7 is nicer than the aging flagship Audi A8, you wouldn't hear an argument from us.
- Prestige models offer a Luxury package with an Alcantara synthetic suede headliner, which approaches decadence.
Low points were the complicated controls and tight 3 row seat, despite being such as large SUV.

Oh no, now I'm going to have second thoughts about ordering one. CR usually picks the most practical, least fun transportation appliance. I guess the Toyota Venza was discontinued and the new Lexus RX styling is too radical for CR.

Definitely will help resale. Overall score is 86. X5 is 73. XC90 is 71. RX 450h is closest at 81.
Ride score is 94. XC 90 is 84. X5 is 84.
The rankings in the luxury class frankly aren't even very close.

lol very true. Over the years, I've found Consumer Reports' car ratings and reviews to be way off the mark and often not in line with my own tastes and priorities with regards to cars. Makes me real nervous that they like the Q7 almost as much as I do. Surely, there must be something wrong with the new Q7 that I'm missing now that CR has praised it

And it's indeed radical (and ugly for many). I honestly never saw CR defining ratings just basing looks. New RX meanwhile was highly regarded in the review.

I appreciated the CR review. As an owner there are a ton of reviews that I have read where reviewers obviously hadn't spent sufficient time with the vehicle in order to understand the layout or features.
The CR reviewers clearly spent time living with the vehicle and got a better appreciation for the layout and features.
