Just received an update from our dealer.

"Your car went into the order bank on 12/29. It is currently scheduled to be built the week of 4/25/16, which would put the delivery at late May / early June."

He then went on to say how the orders are pulled in they order they are received into the bank.

Does this appear to be a dealer allocation issue, or am I getting fed a line of bull...?

Generally, the dealer takes one of their allocated, changeable build in Audi Dealer System and changes the specs to your order. That's what transpired in my case.

The 5 month delay in order and build appears excessive. The dealer probably just threw it in an order bin and did not assign the order to an allocated build slot.

My dealer had told me that Audi is collecting all "sold" orders and building them preferentially at the earliest possible.

Unless your dealer already had 20-30 sold orders or is a very small dealer with low no. of assigned build spots, the delay in build seems long to me.

There are so many persons on this forum with a lot more knowledge and you may get better insight from them.

(My build of 8th week of 2016 was locked to any further changes on 1/29/16.)

My build is also 8th week of 2016 and locked on 1/29. Our cars may be assembly line friends!

Mine is due to be built week 8 and I don't need it until May if you can get Audi to swap.lol
Seriously I was told Mid May when I placed my order but I ve had 2 approaches to take the car at the end of March. I must confess mine has only to cross The North Sea and not The Atlantic Ocean. As I am in Florida for 6 weeks commencing Aril I don't want the car sat in an Airport carpark eating into my warranty. Especially as my wife has told me it will be my last car. She has told me this when I got my last 5 cars. lol.

I put in my order with my dealer around 2/10. The factory accepted on 2/14.

Build date is week 12, week of 3/21

I should have my q7 by the end of April or early May.

Much faster than anticipated.

Received this email today from my dealer:

"Today much more than anticipation is being built. Your Audi Q7 has gone into production. You’ve reached an important milestone, and delivery of your Q7 is getting closer. I’ll contact you again when your vehicle is in transit to the European port of Emden. From there, your Q7 will start its journey to the United States.

While you’re waiting, you can read about legendary Audi fit and finish, which has become the modern standard.

If you have any questions about your Q7 as it's being produced, please feel free to contact me at any time."

We were scheduled for 8th week of 2016, so looks like they may be running ahead of schedule!
