There was a thread that was discussing about when the 2018 is getting released and someone said that the 2017 is the supercharged and the 2018 may get the turbo and based on that discussion each has it pros and cons.

Can someone confirm what does the 2017 have? Apparently the turbo have a slight lag, and the supercharged don't.

A couple of magazine articles have inferred that the S.Chgd is on its way out. I'd bet the 18 Q7 will have a Turbo 3. Turbos are quieter and the lag is almost gone, probably not noticeable in normal driving. It's a personal decision as to what's OK so why not take both for a test drive. There's likely no 3.0 T available yet but the A4 has the new 2.0 and should give you a feel for lag. Not sure but the Q7 2.0 may be the new engine.
