Those Awaiting White Q7's Beware!
We picked up our new Glacier White Q7 a few days ago and it was completely detailed by the dealer before delivery. We noticed today that the silicone based oily tire dressing they used created spin off which permanently stained some of the lower white trim at each wheel and the white plastic trim around the wheels wells. The detail mgr asked if I wanted tire dressing and I said sure (he never explained it may stain the vehicle though, and I doubt he even knew it does).
DO NOT let your dealer put tire shine on your tires unless is water based. We subsequently found countless posts on the net about this issue and apparently there is no way to remove the yellow/brown stains that are left behind. White vehicles are in jeopardy for this issue.
Our dealer has been wonderful in most every way and I will bring this to their attention when we go back in the next few weeks for a warranty item.
Wish we knew this was an issue before taking delivery and I hope my thread helps some here prevent this problem.

Since you think it's permanently stained... give this a try. go to Walmart and buy a gallon of super degreaser or purple power degreaser. CAUTION!!!!! They are concentrated and can cause chemical burns in your lungs. So be careful and wear MASK when handling concentrated strength.
Put in spray bottle and spray. Should hopefully degrease the silicone. Give it a shot. Can't hurt. Once the grease is lifted, take the car to a local paint correction detailer/specialist - have him repolish the clear coat.
And thank you for the public service announcement!

You're most welcome!
I've searched the issue pretty extensively and the stains go very deep and are caused by a chemical reaction between the material used in the tire mold and the silicone/petroleum distillate, so unfortunately a degreaser etc. won't work.
