Default Wireless Charging

Does the European version still have the wireless charging that they were talking about/showing at launch? If so -- can we retrofit into the US version?

If you add a Qi charging puck to whatever you keep your phone in, you've got wireless charging. Assuming the phone supports it. You may need a 2A or stronger charger to feed the puck though, since Qi charging is not as efficient as cords. By a long shot.

Were they not showing, at some point, integrated wireless charging inside of the center console storage? I.e. Just place a phone in there that supports wireless charging and voila it starts charging?

I don't know specifically about Audi, but had heard some automakers were looking into this. Of course that requires your phone is in that one location--whether it is the one you want or not. Still, there's nothing to stop you from doing it yourself.

Just looks like they put a Qi charger in the bottom of the console box. You can also do that. No big deal, other than thinking of it and making it happen.

I prefer to keep my phone next to the dash, so I can see and hear road problems. And not have to keep the console bin empty in order for the phone to sit on the Qi hotspot.

I have a UK Q7 and all the brochures and manuals mention wireless charging with compatible devices and the plastic in the centre console has the symbol pressed in it.
Unfortunately I have an IPhone so haven't been able to test it.

If you had wireless charging, you wouldn't be able to use Android Auto - correct?
