Default Anybody with a WR UR quattro able to help measure something for me please?

Hi all,

Doing a full 'nut and bolt' restoration on my '84 WR - will get round to starting a thread at some point if anybody is interested, I bought the car in bits so its just a bit of a jigsaw puzzle at the moment!

One of the many things I could do with some help on - Dipstick guide tube was already snapped off!

Not sure what the true height needs to be & this is obviously critical for making sure I don't over/ under fill my engine, can anybody please help me out by measuring theirs please? Obviously if someone has a WR block already out of the car that will be loads easier.

Cheers

Is the rest still in the block? If so, hold what you have in the picture next to it, measure it and that's how deep it goes in.

Ciao

I just measured 3 blocks and they all are just short of 9 inches (228 mm)

You're very welcome.
That's the measurement of the tube sticking out of the block, and not the whole tube itself.
I have yet to pull the tube out of a spares block to see the actual overall length.

Additional info,

I just measured a brand new tube (old stock), it is actually a little shrunk at the last 25mm. That is exactly what should go into the block.

Overall lengh = 250mm
Shrunk insert = 25mm
Sticking out of the block = 225mm

Also confirmed on a brand new old stock short block.

Ciao

That is brilliant - thank you for that!

Don't suppose the brand new old stock is for sale by any chance!?
