If your Monaco is vintage/original (pre-TAG), you ARE a "watch guy"! Fine examples are selling for 5 figures.

I love the G-Shock I bought a few years ago. That thing is as tough as nails.

Default The Heuer has the name, but the Certina has an incredibly engineered case.

The machining on the metal band and the mechanism to swap the bands/fobs is very unique. The clasp adjustment is excellent. The titanium nitride coating is also nice.

As a teenager I spent a few weeks one summer helping out with watch repair at a family friend's jewelry store. I found that what a fun hobby wasn't as fun as a job. Funny how that still holds true... It did give me a good appreciation of fine timepieces though.

Personally, I use a Citizen titanium Eco Drive Perpetual Calender watch every day. It is tough, light, water proof to 200m, has a simple face, never needs a battery, never needs to be set and doesn't need to be put on an automatic winder when I'm not wearing it. If I need another, you can find them on ebay all day long. The perfect watch IMO.

Default Re: 4 figure sum is understandable, but what was the first number?

IIRC it was around the €2300 mark......

Default Heuer Audi Sport Watch

Hi Guys/Ladies

I've gotta say, I am a proud owner of one of these watches.
Heuer Audi Sport, that was circulated in the early 80's

It still keeps amazing time, has been serviced a few times over the years, and last time, i got i fitted, with the new style, scratch resistent glass, Tho I do have a brand new spare glass + seal, old style, and still has the orignal strap, but no box

Most of the pics, i see, dont show the old glass, which gave it a raised looked, as the glass stuck out about 3mm.

It is available for offers

In my opinion...The 1983 limited edition Certina Quattro watch is BY FAR the better choice over the TAG.
