Default Economy mode

Does the RS7 go into "economy "mode with cylinder deactivation at low speeds/RPM's like the A7/S7 models? I cannot see that this happens looking at the economy gauge in the center console
Just curious

Mine does all the time, especially if I am going a constant speed on the freeway. When the gauge turns green, that means it has deactivated.

so - I was looking at the screen that has the equipment that takes away from "economy" - found the other screen that shows the green bar that changes.
Question - when in cylinder deactivation mode, can you feel a little "lugging" vibration or noise from the engine/transmission, or is it seemless ?

I don't have an RS7 but the drive train in my A8 is virtually identical. I can't tell at all when it switches from 8 to 4 cylinders or when it switches back.

I can't feel it in my S7 either. If you didn't know better, you would think it wasn't even there.

Only if the system determines a relatively constant speed pattern - low speeds in urban environment with frequent turns, stops, etc would prevent deactivation. The reason is that deactivation/activation uses additional fuel, so if the system is constantly cycling it becomes self-defeating:

Audi has therefore developed a control logic that monitors movement of the accelerator and brake pedals and the steering wheel by the driver. If an irregular pattern is detected, cylinder deactivation may be inhibited in certain situations, for instance at a roundabout or when the car is driven hard on interurban roads. Cylinder deactivation lasting only a few seconds would tend to increase fuel consumption rather than decreasing it.

I feel mine all the time though it is subtle. My wife also tells me I am overly sensitive to noises and vibrations though.
