So I've been thinking on an RS7 versus an S7 for the better part of a week or so. Been looking at new and used, nationwide, to try and find the right car at the right price.
So this is what it comes down to:
1) 2014 RS7 with 4k miles nicely equipped in the color I prefer for $97k. This car is available today.
2) 2016 RS7 very similarly equipped (but with options new for 2016, such as the partially integrated virtual cockpit, heads-up display, flat-bottom steering wheel for $119,500 (including incentives). This would be a custom order, which is perfectly fine. In fact, I am a few grand upside down on the A6 lease I am in the middle of, so the lead time would actually allow me to right myself on that car.
3) 2016 S7 with the same equipment as the RS7, minus the RS7 exclusives that make it an RS7 obviously, for $86k utilizing the Audi Club discount as well as the Audi incentives. This is a vehicle on the way from the factory to the dealership, should be available in a few weeks.
Any clear winners?

I would take the inbound S7. It is a much better value (if that really matters in an $80K+ car!). While the RS7 is a beast, if you are not going to the track, the S7 is still plenty quick.

Is there anything to the resale value holding better on the RS7's due to the limited production/quattro GmbH angle?
