Intake Manifold Runner problem

Intake Manifold Runner problem
Hi all,
3 months ago I bought a 2007 RS4 with 75k miles on it. It's a phenomenal car, and I love it. However, In the last week the EPC and CEL have come on intermittently, so I took the car in to have an Audi tech look at it. Their diagnosis is that the intake manifold runner controlling one side is bad, and the only fix for this is to replace the entire intake manifold assembly, totaling $2,000 for the part and $1,000 in labor. Does this sound like my only option at this point? Anyone else having to deal with this?
Thanks in advance!

It happens, make the best of it. Take it to an independent shop, get a carbon clean while the IM is off (guarantee it needs it really, really bad), and get the IM cleaned and repaired. Guessing $1500.
