Default new suspension?????

OK I hate to beat a dead horse ....I know it has been covered a ton but I am a new proud owner of a all black RS4. Now my car is all stock and I believe that my suspension is in good working order. no leaks rides good ( firm). I do NOT track the car but I do drive it hard like it was meant to be. I am thinking of upgrading the drc as i have read a lot that it is prone to leak and fail. I am not rolling in money but would like to get a decent suspension upgrade for a better ride. I am not interested in lowering or tracking my car and would LOVE to hear any and all thoughts on a good and affordable solution to the stock suspension. I have read that kw are highly recommended but have a hard time swallowing $2000+ for them. MY wife would **** lol. I know I should even tell her what they cost but I have to live with her. Any decent comparable coilovers that wont break the bank? it is for strictly hard driving twisty roads and better ride thats it. Any kit solutions would be greatly appreciated. Also would a coilover kit be a complete replacement for my stock suspension. Thanks for being kind to the newbie.................

If you don't want to lower the car, consider the Bilstein Sport replacement shocks which maintain the stock springs. A coilover kit will replace the entire suspension (both springs and shocks) and are almost always designed for lowering the car with or without height adjustment.

"If it ain't broke, fix it until it is" sums it up. Why not enjoy the car and save your money in case the suspension gives out?

DRC is a signature feature of the RS4 and strikes a very good balance between performance and ride quality. Replacement cost of the OEM DRC is pushing 4 grand or more. That sounds like a lot, and IS a lot, but in perspective, camshafts for this car retail for over 4 grand so everything is relative. If your DRC isn't leaking, isn't clunking over bumps, and you're not out to slam the car to the pavement, you gain a little performance from renewing any old shock, but not sure it's worth risking pissing off the spouse.

No worries. A very few DRC systems went boom, but the vast vast majority of reported failures have been a slow, gradual death, starting with a slight clunking over bumps, gradually getting worse and worse over several months as the oil slowly weeps out and pressurization is lost. Mine never failed from wear, but did croak thanks to a ruptured oil line that the dealer f'd up during DRC recall. I experienced the ordeal almost exactly 1 year after the recall repair. At the end, the car was still drivable but rode like crap! Just awful. A new oil line and re-pressurization, and all is well!

I want to second the info from elevens. Some of the aftermarket ones have needed to be replaced too at US$2k costs.
