Help me buy a car (a4 vs s4 under 10k)
I'm 19 y.o. and looking to buy my first car, but I'm stuck on which car is best for me without going broke and pouring all my cash into my car. I've looked into different cars and manufactures as well as styles (off road, muscle, low cost), but I love the Audi's and decided I want either a A4 or S4.
Can anyone give me some advice on what would be best? I also love the v8 the s4 offers and especially that sound from it. However, the a4 gives me plenty of enough power, lower overall costs, and better mpg. I am willing to do maintenance and do understand at least some of the costs coming from owning a more performance centered car the b6 s4 is.
I'm looking to spend around 6-10k on a car. And am leaning heavily towards the s4 just because of the beast it is.
(note: I have a brother-in-law who was an Audi mechanic and has owned a b6 s4. Despite his advice to go for a Volvo s60R I'm still leaning towards an Audi. He can also help me with any repairs or maintenance the car needs, to help you minus the labor cost)
Thanks for anyone who helps me I really appreciate it,
Chase

2005 Audi S4 | ksl.com
This is a car I've been looking into but have no idea if this is a good price or not. Obviously, I cant see under the hood either but I will do a dealer inspection if I become more serious

you probably already have bought a car, but incase you havent.... I have owned a VW GTI VR6, Audi A4, Audi RS6 and now an 05.5 Audi S4. you mentioned that you dont mind doing maintenance on your vehicle. If by maintenance you mean removing the engine to install timing components, then by all means buy the S4. The A4 would probably be a LOT cheaper to own in the long run. Just my 2 cents
