Default Problem with Trip Computer

I just got my hands on a owner's manual for my S4 I recently purchased and I finally learned how to access the options/settings in the trip computer between the instrument cluster. Apparently, you just click the "Reset" button on the windshield-wiper stalk until it rotates to that feature.

Well, I'm either doing something wrong, or something is not working on my car as it only rotates between Trip Computer 1, Trip Computer 2, and then a blank screen. I believe the blank screen is where the settings/options menu should come up.

Am I doing something wrong or is my S4 acting strangely?

Thanks for the help!

Default Do you have an '05 or '05.5? I believe this functionality only exists on B7 S4's...

I have a 2005 B6 S4 and don't have this option but have played with it on a B7 S4.

IMHO didn't really feel that I was missing anything...

Default '05 (B6)

But my manual has a picture of the B7 on the cover. This could be due to the fact that it was built in Feb. '05 (probably one of the last B6 models)

Default Interesting. My owner's manual could be for a B7 ...

So, if that functionality is only for the B7, how do you change any of the settings in the computer? Or do we not have any of those features?

If you have B6 (05), they probably gave you the wrong manual.

Default you should be able to scroll through miles to empty, avg mpg, avg speed, instant mpg... (edit)

etc... for either trip 1 or 2. if you click the reset buttom it changes between trip 1 and 2 then you use the toggle type buttom on the end of the stalk to go through all the other info. it's a very basic trip computer to say the least. You have the option to be using either trip 1 or 2 or to shut off the display because some people find it distracting. There's nothing wrong w/ your car you just need to use the button on the end of the stock also.

sounds like you bought a lemon!

have you had any luck w/ the RNS-E yet?

Default I have all those features

I got excited when my manual showed I had access to tire pressure sensors and other cool features. I guess that applies only to the B7's . The features the B6 has are pretty basic. Even my 1990 VW Corrado's computer has more info. Sad.

RNS-E is in and it's SWEET! Much cooler than factory radio. Now I need to learn how to fully use it.

Default you found the one fault of the B6, the lousy trip computer!

the RNS-E is (in my opinion) one of the best mods out there for our cars... after a few days it will become very easy to use, the volume **** being on the other side will be the biggest issue! The stereo actuallly sounds much better with the RNS-E, doesn't it?

Default The blank screen is the option for those that do not wish to view the

readouts constantly. My '04 operates as you described.
