Default The trip comp isn't all the reliable...

If you hit 0 with just city driving, you can go quite a while, especially if you hit 0, then go on the highway.

Weird you could only get 15.52 gallons in... B5 certainly could take more than that...

Default I agree. I've gone longer then 18 miles on 0.

I think I even went over 25 or so miles on my b5 w/ 0 on the trip computer. But on the B6, I think the most I've been is about 10 miles.

I drove over 20 miles on 0 this weekend. IT was highway though. Filled up with 16.6 gallons.

Default My understanding is that the damage is done because there is no gas to cool the

in tank fuel pump when you run out of gas, so it can over heat.

Default Simple Answer

The reserve is not calculated from when your mileage indicator hits zero. The reserve is calculated from when the car goes BEEP and that little red light comes on and you get a petrol tank picture up.
