S4 Tiptronic Slipping?
I've had my S4 for about 9 months now and it's been great but I think the gearbox has started to slip in 3rd - it's a 2005 on 64k mmiles. When I accelerate from low revs in 3rd the revs rise to about 1800rpm and hang there as the road speed increases. After a couple of seconds the revs then start increasing and it behaves normally again.
This happens in both auto and tiptronic modes...
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions what might be wrong. It only seems to happen in 3rd but it's really annoying me now

You do realize that you are driving a true automatic transmission and they don't call them "slushboxes" for nothing. It's possible yours may be "slipping" more than usual but some amount is absolutely to be expected. Perhaps a good (professional) fluid flush would be in order to really determine if there is a problem.

I do not have a tiptronic in my S4 but my wife has had tiptronic in all of her Audi's (she's on her third one now) and they've all done that to some some extent. If you attempt to hold the car in a higher gear at low rpm and accelerate (and whether that's from forcing it there in manual mode or not stepping down hard enough on the gas pedal to initiate a downshift), then the transmission is going to slip, plain and simple. That's the way an automatic transmission works.
