Fuel Injecton System Leak

REPAIR NOT YET AVAILABLE

START DATE
Jan 26, 2015

AUDI ACTION CODE
24AP

DESCRIPTION

Due to a combination of production tolerance issues and vehicle vibration during dynamic driving, it is possible that, in rare cases, a fuel leak may occur in the vehicle's fuel injection system. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, may result in a fire. Additionally, some vehicles may benefit from having the thermostat and/or the crankcase pressure valve updated. Repairs to these other components are not related to the safety recall, but can be easily performed at the same time as recall repair.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER

REMEDY

To help correct the safety defect, your authorized Audi dealer will replace both fuel rails and the fuel injector seals. The thermostat and/or the crankcase pressure valve will also be updated on certain vehicles. These repairs are not related to the safety recall, but can easily be performed at the same time as the recall repair. These repairs will be performed free of charge.

Default Had it...

...about 12 months, at 30k miles, ago. Yep...I was/am somewhat spirited driver. The fuel smell is DISTINCT. Had to get towed in..car began the emergency shutdown procedure....service tech popped off the engine cover...puddles of fuel everywhere.

Not a problem since....

Thanks for posting that recall link. Indeed, the article quoted the correct years and I'm clean.

Both our Audis are recalled. Just in time for my 45000 Audi Care check up.

Default Repair Not Yet Available

Entered my VIN, and my 2012 S4 is affected. Action code is 24AP. It also states that the repair is not yet available.

Wonder how long this will be the case.

Advice: should I just check back every few days?

I've moved since I purchased the car, so any paper notice via mail will likely never reach me.

My 2011 with build date of 10/2010 is not affected, so it appears later builds of the 2011 may be involved, along with certain 2012 MY vehicles.

I have a 5/11 build date and not recalled so must be very late build dates in 2011 affected.

My 2012 S4 is also affected and I read somewhere that Audi will be notifying us by mail. Call Audi to let them know you moved and they should be able to help you.
