Default 2013 s4 30-70mph constant HUM / WHINE noise....is that normal?

Picked up a 2013 S4 a few weeks back and overall love the car just have a few small issues.

The car has a constant low pitched hum / whine from 30mph and up. It is NOT rev specific, and does not change in pitch or loudness. The noise is almost like a constant belt spinning or a clothes dryer turned on. Im also not 100% sure whether its coming from the speakers or from somewhere within the car itself (leaning more towards latter as Ive tried to listen closer to the speaker and the sound is not any louder).

I should also add that I do have an INJEN intake that I bought the car with, so maybe that is a byproduct of that? Ive test driven a number of stock versions of 2013 S4 and do not recall hearing this whine, but maybe bc I was not paying attention this close.

Ive read threads of the 'supercharger whine' and the 'INJEN intake whine' ... but Im not sure if this is either of those things because it is not rev specific, its just always there 30mph and up. The sound is NOT there at idle. I would bring it to the dealer and have them check out but do not want to leave with the usual 'this is normal' answer -

***Bottom line - does anybody else hear a constant hum/whine when you are just cruising down the freeway at 70mph (Car is around 2100rpm or so)...and it is only audible when music is completely off so you really have to listen for it*** Please Help!!!

I don't have anything like that in my 2014. Very, very quite if I'm not on it.

Starting to think its the left wheel bearing as (if im not hearing things) the sound is coming from the left front side of the car and has slightly gotten louder in the past week. Going to take it in to the dealer with that premise, see what they say.

Mine had a whistle noise in that same speed range and it turned out to be a bad window seal on the front passenger window. The tech said there was a TSB on that.

I have the same whine, if it's what I'm thinking of. Everyone has said it is the super charger (2011 model). Bugs me as well.

The whine from the sc is hardly even noticeable with the stock intake. Changing the intake however will make it noticeable, but that has less to do with speed and more to do with rpm range. Maybe it's the window seal?

Nice to see a fellow GTA'r...

You're correct, I didn't realize the speed qualification in the post. I hear the whine regardless of speed, difficult to hear if the radio is on or with road noise.

Not the window, that's for sure..

I didn't get the whine until I replaced the intake. You hearing it at specific rpms?

I think the OP might have a different issue.

Good to see another person in the TO area

Do yourself a favor, remove the sound actuator fuse and see if the noise goes away.
