You hit the proverbial nail on the head. My '13 S4 with ACC is a must-have for me from now on. I was once one of those guys who rode tails of those in the passing lane but now I let the Adaptive Cruise Control lower my blood pressure. What a relief! I stay out of the passing lane, unless, of course, it clear cruising up ahead.

I just got the radar cruise control on the Boxster. It basically turns the car into an autonomous vehicle in traffic. It literally drives itself, stopping and going as traffic allows.

I had one vehicle with adaptive cruise control. If visibility were low and it stopped you that would be about the only time you will ever enjoy it. I thought man this is cool technology and I liked it until the newness wore off.
Then you get to the part that pisses you off beyond belief. Just a for instance...you are in the right lane and want to get over and there is someone either in the left lane further back or someone behind you getting over to. you start over and suddenly your car starts braking when you are a very safe distance from the car in front of you going slower. next thing you know the guy behind you almost hits you or is right on top of you. I have had the guard rail of a bridge set the thing off. It has happened at multiple sensitivity settings.
Granted I have never experienced Audi's system so might be much more refined but it will be something that I never ask for in car again. If i have it I probably would never use it.

I have ACC as a factory fit on a UK A4 B8, it's probably the best feature on the car, and although the braking effect described can happen when overtaking (this can be stopped by pressing the accelerator momentarily so that the car unlocks the radar from the car in front) it is a very rare occurrence, having ACC on the motorway is brilliant and is definitely an option I will want on all future cars I own.
