Default 2015 S4 - Any options on improving Bluetooth microphone audio?

I don't know about you guys, but I think it's pretty disappointing that the audio over the Bluetooth mic is very bad. I've had it paired with Android before and now my iPhone and the result is the same. People complain they can't hear me and that there is a lot of background noise. Siri can't figure out what I'm saying half the time, not that ~50% accuracy is a huge decrease for Siri. Switching to speakerphone, wired headset, or the phone eliminates the problem. The Bluetooth audio in my 06 BMW was much clearer.
  1. Is anyone aware of any options of improving the audio reception of the mic OK n the car?
  2. Is it possible to replace the mic with another one or move to a different location to fix some of the problems?
  3. Anyone else have this issue?

My phone's microphone must be absolute garbage because everything got better, especially voice recognition and speech to text when I set it to use the car's microphone instead of my phone.

I have the same problem with my 2015 Q5 - drove the 2018 Q5 today which sounds great. Audi Dealer told me that this is known issue. I'm also looking for the same set of solutions..

You did not mention if your blower fan is on (for heat or A/C) but if it is, turn it off.

I don't think this needs to be said, but just in case, the fan was not on.

I use my Bluetooth almost daily in my '13 and no complaints from callers.

You'll need a correct diagnosis... I don't know if Audi made changes to the hardware, but I'll say things are better than my previous vehicle.

No issues with mic quality in my B8.5 S5 which shares the same electronics found in the S4. Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity of the microphone through the Green Screen menu in the MMI?

Adjust bluetooth microphone sensitivity

Diagnose
Settings
Mic sensiblity - choose -6db/0db/+6db

One thing I don't have problems with is voice quality from my Bluetooth connection.
