6mt - shifter getting very squeaky
Over the last month my stock shifter went from what used to be a slight squeak going from 1st to 2nd has turned into a very squeaky shifter all over. It feels as though a rubber bushing has either disintegrated or has lost the majority of it's lubrication.
Having not ripped it open yet does anybody know if there's a spot to lubricate it? I'm under warranty and will have it fixed if needed but I'd rather avoid a trip to the dealer for something like greasing a bushing.

Get the eurocode short shifter and never look back. It is on sale right now too. Mine was having snapping/popping sounds like my wrist was popping. My wrist wasn't popping. I finally installed the Eurocode short shifter and it is quiet and smooth especially after driving it for a couple of weeks.
I had the dealer look at mine a couple of times before I swapped it out. They lubed the plastic bearing...it still sounded the same. I took it in 3 times and they said they didn't hear it.

As noted, the OEM shifter has sort of a plastic ball in a socket. It didn't appear to me to have a good place to keep in any lubricant. The Eurocode shifter is all metal and very heavy duty. There is a night and day difference in shift feel.

I'm not really interested in aftermarket at this time, though I have no doubt it's a better shift lever
I'll try the ball, it's a shame it's not delrin...

lubing the ball will not help. The dealer may replace the shifter, but you will end up with the same issue. The Eurocode one right now is $378 and not a bad DIY. Eurocode Tuning's Fall Sale! ÜSS Stabilizer Bar Set, Endlinks, Alu Kreuz and More
Not to mention you get a lot less slop in the shifter. You really need to drive a car with it installed.
I kick myself for not installing it sooner. I had it sitting in a box for nearly a year. If/when I buy a new 6mt S4, the short shifter will be my first mod.
