Acceleration problem
Hi there,
Firstly, Ive just joined and live in the North East, UK.
I bought my 2011 S4 about 7 weeks ago and had a stage 1 remap carried out about 4 weeks ago by a VAG specialist. After about 6 or 7 days with the new map I experienced something that had not happened before the map or indeed since and hope someone can shed some light and explain what might have happened.............
Firstly, my car is a 6 speed manual version.
I hit the gas and dropped the clutch for a quick launch as you would normally and the car just failed to move no more than a few miles per hour and yet the car was revving its nuts off. I put the car into second gear and again the car just continued to move no more than walking speed. I stopped the car and done the same again, only this time it surged forward like a rocket. There was no clutch slip and no smell.
The car is now pushing around 408 BHP and everything else is stock......Should I be concerned? What happened?
Thanks,
Clint

Its your clutch. Have had the similar experience with my 2010. Going 5 mph, hit the gas WOT, shifted into second and the clutch pedal just stayed on the floor, engine revving and car going nowhere. Others have experienced similar. BTW, I don't believe the stock clutch is strong enough to handle the added power/torque that a tune gives. Secondly, since you bought your car used and it has some miles on it, you have no idea what the current condition of the clutch really is. I would be surprised if you don't need a new clutch in the near future. AND you will want to put something in that is somewhat more stout than the OEM clutch. Check this out.Clutch options - JHM, Eurocode, and SouthBend - mine is TOAST BTW, I am on my 3rd B8 S4 . All ^ MTS . sSince my experience with my 2010, I have been really reluctant to do hard WOT shiftes. Especially since I now am driving a used 2011 with 55k miles and have no idea what the actual condition of the clutch is. I am the 3rd owner of the car. Previous owner was a female. First owner was male.
