Default Advanced key battery

How long have your batteries been lasting? Mine only seem to last about 20 months.

I've never had a keyless system before so maybe this is normal...

Bought my car in May for 2013, replaced my battery two months ago. Don't know how the key in a keyless system works but in case miles driven makes any difference, I've racked up 48,xxx during this time - yes I spend quite a bit of time in the car driving around Everywhere.

I just bought my 2015 s4 . I bought a ten pack from www.meritline for $ 3.99 with free shipping. I am sure dealer is a lot more, and I have the batteries always available .

I replace mine once a year and keep a spare in the car. Once it gets warm out I open and close the windows with mine every time I go to the car and that seem to chew through battery since you're holding the button down the whole time.

Had to be a vagcom mod of some sort--I did that with my old Allroad back in the day. Haven't gotten around to it with my new S4---do a search, there is a list of various mods available around here someplace.

yes, just a VCDS edit

Ross-Tech: Home

VCDS & Hidden menu: The complete list

if you have an Audi it's the best $300 you can spend (IMHO)

This thread got me thinking, and then I had an occurrence that I believe relates..

First of all, only 1 of my 2 keys will unlock the car electronically... (maybe the one key is dead)

Second, I went out to my car and tried to unlock it with the fob and it wouldn't, however it would still detect the fob and open the door with me pulling the handle, which in turn would make a red light blink on the fob. Upon exiting the vehicle the fob will work to lock the doors.... Odd...

Perhaps its time to change the batteries? Its a 2013 Prestige, can someone please post the battery number and a link to how to change them? (Ive had bad luck changing Fob batteries in the past, the fobs usually never go back together well....

Eagerly awaiting a response!

Battery is CR2032. Very common, inexpensive and takes 20 seconds to replace.
