Audi S4 Exhaust
Hi there,
The audi S4 B8 2009-2012 platform come equipped with its stunning quad piped system.
I was wondering whether switching from Dynamic mode to comfort mode and vice versa has any effect on the exhaust note or sound output.
If so, what kind of valves does this platform operate on.
Just recently got a B8 Avant S4 and loving the sounds it makes.
cheers

No valves. It depends on what year you have. Minor effect on 2010-2012 models. BUT , some believe that the exhaust sound on 2011 and later models were a LITTLE louder. But not much. In the 2013 model, The sound of the exhaust is artificially generated by a SOUNDAKATOR, in the cabin. Changing from comfort to auto, dynamic, increases the volume in the cabin. BUT increasing the throttle(comfort /auto/dynamic) response in pre 2013 models will also cause the car to accelerate quicker making the exhaust sound slightly louder. IMHO, OEM the exhaust sound is weak.

Our 2014 S4 Prestige in dynamic exhaust mode sounds better than our Porsche Boxster S with sports exhaust (a button opens the baffles) from the outside.
My wife drives these cars by my home office. The S4 sounds really great. I can hardly hear the exhaust from the inside the car. You have to really floor it and get the revs up to hear much with the windows shut.
