AMI Part Number Help
Hi guys. I bought a 4F0 051 510 R for my 2012 B8 S4, and the system doesn't like it one bit. It won't recognize my old iPhone 4 that I am planning on leaving in the glove box, or the old nano that I currently use with the older cable.
I called the dealer and they said that part number (R) only works with 2013 and newer models. Is this true? I guess I didn't know the red cables were incompatible with B8 and only work with 8.5s. He suggested I use part number 4F0 051 510 L, which I do not think supports the nicer metadata like album art... Is he right, or do I have a cable that's simply no good? And if the R cable is not the right one for album art, do I have an option with the 2012? Thanks!

I'm definitely not ripping out the 3G system and replacing it with 3G+ for something so superfluous, but it's interesting reading how some people have gone that route.
The album art is great, but I guess it's no big deal for me if it's such a pain in the a$$. I'll just live with the dumb 3 lines of text instead of pretty stuff.

Possibly confusing MMI terms here. MMI 3G Nav Plus was introduced on the U.S. 2013 B8s which includes Audi Connect and all it's advanced features. "3G+" was introduced with the 2010 B8 models with improved Nav including the joystick MMI selector. If you have a US 2012, it's 3G+, not Nav Plus with Audi Connect.

Then you're right, I have 3G+ with the improved joystick MMI selector. It's a 2012 B8 I'm referencing.
The question remains...and if I missed it, I apologize...Does 3G+ support album art? And if so, what cable? Is AMI cable 4F0 051 510 R (RED collar) supposed to work with 3G+? I'm thinking no, but I am trying to bring the conversation together here...

While the post below doesn't pertain to your model year, it could be of interest to those on the forum who have a MY2013 "B8.5" w/Nav Plus. (Audi Connect, touchpad, Google Earth, etc.)
