Since about 5,000 miles I have had issues with my backup camera. The dealer has replaced the camera harness twice and the camera module once. And it still doesn't work consistently. Now at 51,000 miles it seems to be getting worse. The image flickers, blacks out or just doesn't work at all. It also seems that it takes a few more seconds than usual for the camera to come on.

Has anyone else had these issues and gotten them resolved? If so, I would really appreciate some help.

check the hardware connections in the trunk. mine was doing the same intermittently but hasn't acted up since.

Mine just acted up once yesterday - screen just went blank after a bit of screen jitter. Kind of annoying when these intermittent issues happen.

I'd scan to see if you're getting errors from the control module. At any rate, please keep us posted on what you find out.

Same issue with mine since new. Dealer did a hard reset on the MMI, suggesting that it was the VAG-COM mods I'd done that were to blame, though I knew better, having read about others with similar issues.

It was no better after the hard reset, so I re-did my mods. The issues are not consistent, nor repeatable, so it's most likely a software issue, but it's never been a big enough deal to me to make it worth having the dealer try to chase it down. It's fine 95% of the time, and wonky 5% of the time, so I just don't worry about it.

Quick update. I tried the suggestion of checking the connections in the trunk. I actually used a little electronic contact cleaner on the coax connection and it seemed to help. Over the past 2 weeks I've only had the camera act up once. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I had my camera module replaced a few weeks back. The camera was cutting out, and kicking me back to the MMI screen. Could it be the lead wiring heading into the MMI -- before it gets to the modules?

Quick update: the cutting out of the camera is happening on a very regular basis now. Probably 1 out of every 4 times I put the car in reverse. The camera module and harness have been replaced but it hasn't helped. I've given in to just living with it at this point.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I also am having intermittent problems with the rear camera on my 2011. I bought it used in May with 49k miles. Now has 52K. From time to time the back up camera just doesn't work. Next time I put it in reverse it works just fine. I also would be interested if anyone had a solution. Guess I should check the connection in the trunk.
