How would you go about wiring this just to the OEM amp for now?

The Kicker 2013 CompD Subwoofer manual shows the connection diagram for wiring the two 4 ohm voice coils in series to get 8 ohms: http://www.kicker.com/sites/default/...0Rev%20C_0.pdf

Finally did it today, dropped in the Kicker CompD 40CWD104 CompD Series 10 inch Subwoofer Dual 4 Ohm sub and it sounds amazing. Wired as m444 and others said as 8 ohm. 89 bucks and about 50 bucks worth of dynamat(not in picture) and the B&O sounds levels better than before. Have a bit of rattle I think on the B&O grill that goes over the sub, any ideas how to fix that?

Cheers

Can you post a picture of how low it hangs into the trunk? I've been wanting to upgrade the sub but don't want to lose the space the JL takes up

I'm familiar with that thread but that's a different kicker model. Are they the same dimensions?

I apologize for the quality of this pic, I took it at night but this is how low it hangs. I was in a rush towards the end of the installation so the wiring isn't cleaned up yet. After a few days it has been sounding better and better and the rattle went away. Wired for 8 Ohms. Obviously it will sound different based on how well a song is mastered and the type of song, but I find myself having to turn down the bass on a lot of songs because it is too much(a good problem to have ha!). I am a huge audiophile and couldn't be happier with this upgrade.

I contacted an ebay seller to custom make a spacer and it turned out great. Was 18 bucks cut and shipped within a day. Contact carforce1@att.net and he will hook you up. 1.25" thick and Outside dimension of 9.625" and the inside dimension of 9.125". Didn't need to trim anything and it all fit perfectly.

Highly recommended.

Thanks for that picture. It looks like that sub hangs down about 4-5 inches. Is that correct?

Also, since I am not familiar how high the mounting ring can be, is there more room to raise the sub even higher or is it at its limit?

It is just an older model of the COMP (10" 8 ohm). The basket should be the same size.

The ring I used was 1.5" thick, which is pushing the limit for a flat ring. It would be better to have an angled ring with 1/2" difference between the sides for clearance to the speaker grille. I had to trim the underside of the grille.
